Meet the Preferred Living Solutions Team:

Melanie Mattingly, Managing Partner

Melanie@PreferredLivingSolutions.com
After becoming frustrated with navigating the fragmented path of finding, selecting and supervising reliable support for her own family members, Melanie knew she wanted to help others. Realizing that her work in the disability service arena could benefit families facing similar challenging issues, she founded Preferred Living Solutions. Her goal is to provide a service that focuses on putting control back in the hands of individuals and their families with the aim of securing the greatest quality of life possible for seniors and people with disabilities.

A Wake Forest Native, Melanie has a B.S. in Social Work and over 20 years of experience in the human service field. Before starting Preferred Living Solutions in 2009, Melanie was the Executive Director of a local non–profit that provides rehabilitation and support services to people with disabilities. An active member of her community, Melanie serves on the Board of Directors as Vice President for First in Families of North Carolina–a non–profit organization that helps people with developmental disabilities and their families create the lives they want now and in the future.

"With the right supports in place, seniors and people with disabilities can achieve the goals they set."

Angela Woodard, Care Manager

Angela@PreferredLivingSolutions.com
Angela has a tremendous amount of experience in the Human Services arena, making her an indispensable resource to seniors and people with disabilities who need help living the lives they want. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology at Meredith College in Raleigh, NC. Previously, Angela worked as a Case Manager for a non–profit organization for adults. Now with Preferred Living Solutions, Angela is honored to continue serving families and clients as she has for the past 11 years. Angela and her daughter Savannah–the apple of her eye–reside in Raleigh.

"I have a genuine interest in helping people, and genuinely care about people’s lives. I take the time to listen to people: their hurts, frustrations, joys, and successes. By listening, I am able to help people work through challenges and achieve their goals."

Betsy Jones Ludwig, Information and Referrals

Betsy@PreferredLivingSolutions.com

Betsy researches the most appropriate service and support referrals for clients based on their individual needs. With a varied background in social work, recreational therapy and education, Betsy’s 20+ years of experience ensure that all your various needs–from social activities to living facilities–will be met.

Betsy is passionate about helping clients with their quality of life issues. This interest in helping seniors and those with disabilities developed when she relocated her widowed mother from another state. By experiencing firsthand how difficult it can be for loved ones to coordinate services at a distance, Betsy decided that she wanted to partner with others to find easier solutions. She specializes in finding fun and creative ways to address such needs as health, fitness, mobility and companionship.

"People are naturally happier when able to participate in activities they enjoy. Disability or aging should not stand in the way of continuing to enjoy those pastimes. Our expertise helps you modify or adapt activities so that you can continue living the life you want."

Dana Gillespie, Marketing Director

Dana@PreferredLivingSolutions.com
Dana reaches out to seniors, people with disabilities and their loved ones so that they know they can turn to Preferred Living Solutions to help them access and coordinate all of the quality services and support they need.

After the loss of her father–in–law, Dana and her family suddenly found themselves in immediate need of in–home care for her mother–in–law who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease. Though her care was eventually coordinated, the initial options were convoluted and mediocre–not the type of care Dana wanted for her loved one. As a member of Preferred Living Solutions, Dana melds her background in advocacy, health and marketing to help clients so other families know that they have a compassionate resource to turn to when in crisis.

"I know how emotionally and physically exhausting the process of ensuring care for loved ones can be; that’s why I am so happy I can extend a helping hand to others by letting them know that there is a resource they can rely on for support."
